Experience
Well, I have to say that when I started this program I thought that I wanted to be in the High School level. I have been in both the middle school and the high school level now and if I had my choice, I think I would actually choose the middle school level. After spring break I will be starting my student teaching at the elementary school level. I think it is important for all of us to experience all levels because what I thought I would want has definitely changed. If a job was offered to me at the high school level, of course I would take it!! They are fun to teach and are wonderful students.

Sports get the cut!
Should sports programs be the first to get the cut from school budgets? I am not sure if this is the answer to saving money the right way. I feel they are taking away something very important from a lot of the students. Sports offer a variety of learning experiences and also bring in some money for the school. Do you think that sports should be the first to get cut?
Sports and credits
I have heard of some schools allowing students who participate in after school sports programs to claim this activity for a credit. What do you think about this? I sort of have mixed feelings about this because it is taking some students out of the PE classroom which sometimes helps others get motivated and participate a little bit harder. I have also seen these athletes be big disappointments when it comes to PE. Should this sort of credit for PE be allowed?
1 credit, you have to be kidding me!!
What are your thoughts about one credit of PE and one credit of health in high school. Is this helping our children out or hurting them?

Cupping
If anyone has experienced cupping before please let me know. I have to say it is one of the weirdest forms of stress management I have ever seen. If you have no idea what the heck I am talking about, google cupping and see for yourself. I am just curious if anyone has first hand experience with this and your thoughts about the procedure. Does it work?
Frustrated!!!
OK. I have a body toning class that is right after lunch that is for girls only. One would think that someone who signed up for this class has the intentions of getting their bodies more in shape and toned. WRONG!! This has to be some of the laziest girls I have ever come around. HELP! This group is mouthy, most are overweight, a few smoke, about 4 are tardy everyday, unathletic, etc. I am looking for ways to get these girls motivated because I have run out of ideas. If there are any good ideas out there let me know!!!
Closed Campus
Just wondering if having a closed campus at the high school level would be one way to control more of what these students are eating. Right now the students are free to leave the campus for lunch and eat at the local fast food restaurants. Please let me know what you think about this!! Closed campus or not?

Diets and high school
It is sort of funny to sit and listen to what high school students are eating these days. Fast food seems to be a normal part of their daily intake. Walking down the hall ways at the high school I constantly see the students carrying a 44oz. soda in their hand. I know for some that this is the only thing they have had for lunch. I have not been to the cafeteria here at the high school, but I did visit the middle school cafeteria a few times. I was sort of blown away with the different items offered. Pizza, chicken nuggets w/tater tots, taco salad with chips, meatball sandwiches, etc. I learned that the salad bar was basically taken out of the cafeteria because the portions couldn't be controlled. I guess I don't see what is wrong with a student over doing it at the salad bar. Not only are the kids lacking in exercise, but their nutrition basically SUCKS! Come on people!!!!!!
First Experience with Blogging
This is my first experience with blogging so site is slowly taking shape. Please visit often and offer any insight on how to get our youth more involved in physical activity and health. Any information provided will be greatly appreciated!
PE in the middle school level
I was surprised with some of the class sizes in PE. It is almost impossible to do an activity that requires a lot of cardio movement. The lessons were scaled to large group activities that really require a limited amount of physical endurance. Something doesn't seem right about this!!
